Charity Spotlight: DSPCA
DSPCA
Who We Are:
The Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was established over 180 years ago in 1840. Over the years we have grown to be the leading animal welfare charity in Ireland.
Why We Started:
We exist uniquely to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome sick, injured and cruelly treated animals. We are committed to making it socially unacceptable to mistreat any animal.
What You Do:
As well as running and maintaining our animal shelter and veterinary clinic in Rathfarnham, that offers care and hope for injured and cruelly-treated dogs, cats, horses, pigs, goats, rabbits, guinea-pigs, geese, hens and wild animals in the Dublin city and county area; we also provide pet ownership training and pet first aid; a mobile veterinary service and neutering services. Our team of inspectors works closely with Government Agencies and Authorities to help strengthen the law on animal welfare in Ireland and influence decision making. Through our education services, we impact over 150,000 people each year and focus on promoting kindness and empathy towards animals.
Your Charity’s Plans for Women’s Mini Marathon:
This year, the DSPCA is forming our own ‘pack’ of animal-caring supporters who will take on the Mini-marathon, in aid of the animals we care for. Join our pack and proudly become part of TEAM DSPCA.
