County Champion: Emma O Riordan

🌟 Meet our incredible County Champion: Emma O Riordan, a resilient soul from Dooradoyle, representing Limerick, at this years Vhi Womens Mini Marathon!🌟

"It’s been 4 years since I ended up in the hospital for the majority of 2020 because I was struggling with my mental health," Emma courageously shares. "Depression made me feel like I was alone in this world. I didn’t want to be here anymore."

Yet, amidst the depths of despair, Emma found a lifeline at St John of Gods Hospital Dublin. "Thankfully with the help of my team, I am happy, healthy, and here," she reflects. "I will struggle with my mental health for the rest of my life, but I have the skills and tools to manage my emotions now."

Emma's message resonates with a clarity born of experience: "Stay in the present because you can’t change the past and you can’t change what’s coming your way," she advises. "Do what makes you happy. You don’t know what anyone is going through, so always be kind."

Her journey serves as a beacon of hope for those facing similar struggles. "Just know the way you are feeling can be changed and you will recover," Emma assures. "Please take care of your mental health everyone, it is so important."

In heartfelt gratitude, Emma extends her thanks to her family and friends who supported her through her darkest days. "I’ll always remember it and I love you," she expresses with deep sincerity.

With her message of resilience and compassion, Emma O Riordan inspires us all to prioritize mental health and extend kindness to those in need. 💖
