Dublin#MagicMaker- Nicole for St Michael’s House
I am Nicole Redmond and I am 45 years old. I live Dundrum in Dublin.
I take part in the Special Olympics and the sports I do are pool swimming, open sea swimming and ten pin bowling.
Last November I joined the Marley Park runs and I do a 5km run every Saturday morning. I use an app call Strava to track my time and my distance. So far I have done 20 park runs. My personal best is 00:34:30 in Marley Park. I always get out for a run during the week on my own to keep up my fitness.
During lockdown in 2020 I started walking because my clubs had stopped. I then started a virtual couch to 3km with Dublin City Council in January 2021 which started me running.
I also did a ‘Lets Run’ training programme with the Special Olympics over 12 weeks. The aim of the programme is to run up to 5km. We trained for 30 minutes three times a week.
I am now doing a training program with Dublin City Council to get ready for the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon and I do it every Friday for 12 weeks in St. Anne’s Park, Raheny.
I have done the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon since 1995; this will be my 26th marathon and have always done it for St. Michael’s House.
