Plan International Ireland is the leading global charity for girls’ rights and equality. We strive for a fairer world. One where every child can reach their full potential, and every girl can choose their own future. We won’t stop until we are all equal.

Why Girls?

In every corner of the world, girls’ rights are under attack. Girls are told what they can and cannot do with their bodies. They face barriers that prevent them from attending school and being independent. They are told that their voices don’t matter.

It’s dangerous to be a girl.

Every 3 seconds a girl is forced to marry.
Every year 60 million girls are sexually assaulted on their way to school.
And nearly 1 million girls and women die due to lack of access to clean water.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Investing in girls is one of the most effective ways to fight global poverty and create communities that are healthier, more resilient, just and peaceful.

What does your charity do?

We strive to create a world where children, especially girls, learn, lead, decide and thrive. We tackle the root causes of gender inequality. Together, with our community of supporters, we are creating a future where every girl is safe, empowered and free to reach her full potential.

By running the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon and fundraising for Plan International Ireland, you will:

Address girls’ unique needs: providing essential support to keep girls in school, ensure they are safe when disaster strikes, fill their bellies with nutritious food and make a better future possible.
Protect girls from: child marriage, Female Genital Mutilation and sexual exploitation.
Secure opportunities for girls and support them to achieve their dreams.
Change her future and her world supporting programmes that strengthen girls’ leadership so they can learn about their rights, advocate for change in their communities and create a better world for future generations.

Will YOU sign up to run the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon and fundraise for Plan International Ireland to create a better future for girls?

Once you have signed up via our website, you will receive an invitation to create your fundraising page on idonate and your free Plan International t-shirt in the post.

On the day we are inviting everyone to meet at our Plan International Ireland office at 11 Harrington Street, D08 EK7D. All participants are welcome to use our bathroom facilities and store the belongings there on the day. You can also pick your plan t-shirt up here the morning of the race.

We’ll take some photos, get to know one another and then the Plan Team will head over to the start line together.

Together, we will create a better future where every girl is safe, empowered and free to reach her full potential.
