County Champion: Ellen Walsh

🌟 Meet Ellen Walsh, the dedicated County Champion for Tipperary! 🌟

Ellen's journey highlights the transformative power of community and support. "I joined my local Gaelic for Mothers & Others football club in June 2023 after struggling with addiction and feeling completely lost during the lockdown," Ellen shares. "I also became a mother for the second time, which became overwhelming as I tried to juggle a managerial job. This social football club became part of the solution to my problems. The support and open arms I received; I will be eternally grateful for."

The initiative to include mothers in non-competitive sports has made a significant impact on Ellen and her fellow club members. "It has saved me and others in my club mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually," Ellen emphasises. "I want to give back to my club by getting us recognised and encouraging us to join this year's VHI Women's Mini Marathon, which I am starting to train for in memory of my late mother."

Ellen is passionate about raising awareness for Gaelic4Mothers&Others. "I want Gaelic4Mothers&Others to be recognized in this year's VHI to show the strength of empowerment when women come together to support and uplift each other. I encourage anyone reading this who may be struggling with anything to find your local Gaelic for Mothers & Others and join this amazing initiative. You don't even need to be able to solo a ball; all training will be provided!" she adds with a laugh.

Ellen's story is a powerful example of how inclusive initiatives can foster recovery and growth.

Her journey highlights the incredible impact that community and support can have on an individual’s life. Her involvement in the Gaelic for Mothers & Others football club has been a crucial part of her recovery, offering mental, physical, social, and spiritual benefits. As Ellen trains for the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon, she continues to inspire and encourage others to seek out the support they need. Her story is a reminder that recovery is possible and that no one has to face their struggles alone. 💜
